I been using a .40 XD for deployments. We carry wat we want, and its lite, reliable, and holds 12 in the mag. Its a 4 inch barrel, and I prefer it over the 1911, or the Kimber thats being used. I have had this XD w/ me for 4 tours, 2 each in A-stan, Iraq. Its a perfect compromise between 9mm and .45 acp. I like the grip safety, no fuss no muss. Just grip and fire. Looking forward to the new XD-m. The Hk Mk-23 is too heavy, too big and not practical. The 9mm Beretta is not the best combat pistol, but some guys like it. Mag cap. has alot to do with it. Some opt for the .40 Sig Sauer, the CG has adopted it, and its more about the round [.40] than anything. Getting rid of the Colt M-4 should be the priority. The weapon is unreliable, and in Somalia mine jammed after a day of running gunbattles. The 416 is the carbine most used, but surprise-the M-8 had LESS stoppages than ANY of them. Colt has political clout, but nothing else. The move to the LWRC's 6.8mm is the next move. Its more versatile and a great weapon, better than the SCAR-L.

Ive had my XDm 40 for over a year and very happy with it. Though I am not a fan of grip safety myself after a little practice I don't know it is even there. All in All I give the pistol an A+
